Kevin & Kelsey: A Love Story Written in the Stars

Kevin and Kelsey first met in 2010 at UW Madison during a Botany 101 class. Though they sat on opposite sides of the room, their paths frequently crossed, making them acquaintances—but never quite romantic partners.

It wasn’t until two years later that fate finally brought them together. Kelsey always found Kevin charming, and while their personalities are quite different, their shared love for the outdoors helped solidify their bond. Kevin loves spending time in his garage, crafting fishing lures or building barn board creations, while Kelsey enjoys curling up with a good book or perfecting a new recipe. Their differences complemented each other perfectly, creating the foundation for a beautiful partnership.

A Cocktail Hour Full of Energy and Nostalgia

Kelsey and Kevin wanted their cocktail hour to feel upbeat and lively, steering away from traditional love songs. Together, we curated a playlist featuring a mix of classic rock, country, and a touch of indie music to keep the mood light and fun. Guests couldn’t help but tap their feet, sing along, and raise their drinks to the music as the afternoon unfolded. The reception space reflected their rustic barn theme perfectly.

The bridal party made their grand entrance into the tent to The Friends Theme Song, setting a fun and nostalgic tone for the night.

2. Trivia Fun During Dinner

Instead of the usual dinner announcements, we kept guests engaged with multiple-choice trivia questions about Kelsey and Kevin. The room was alive with laughter as tables competed to shout out the right answers.

3. Magical First Dance Under the Stars

After dinner, the guests were led outside to the open field by the hay bales for Kelsey & Kevin’s romantic first dance to Forever Like That by Ben Folds. The soft glow of lanterns hanging from the trees and bistro lighting added a dreamy ambiance to the moment.

4. Sentimental Family Dances

Kelsey shared a heartfelt moment with her dad as they danced to House on Pooh Corner. To make it extra special, Kelsey pre-recorded herself playing the piano and singing the song—an emotional surprise for her father. Kevin’s mother, Carol Ann, didn’t initially want a mother-son dance, but Kevin surprised her with Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond. The entire room joined in, singing along, creating a warm, unforgettable moment.

5. Dancing the Night Away

The barn came alive as guests hit the dance floor. With a mix of crowd-favorites, there wasn’t a moment when the floor was empty. From classic rock to dance hits, DJ Zyan Foth kept the energy high all night.
